Company recognized for increasing consumer health data accessibility
PENSACOLA BEACH, FL – July 25, 2016 – Green Circle Health (GCH) announced that it was recognized as a Phase 1 winner in the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology’s (ONC) Consumer Health Data Aggregator Challenge.
The company’s GCH Platform, which is a health and wellness platform that engages families, employers and care providers, was chosen as one of the best solutions that addresses a need that many consumers, patients and employees have today: the ability to easily and electronically access their health data across a variety of different health IT and other systems.
The Consumer Health Data Aggregator Challenge, along with the Provider User Experience Challenge, was announced in March by Dr. Karen DeSalvo, National coordinator for Health Information Technology at ONC. Both challenges were developed to foster private sector innovation to help make health information available in user-friendly formats to enable consumers and providers to easily and securely access and share electronic health information. Applicants were challenged to use the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR®) standard and open application programming interfaces (APIs), which are modern resources that make it easier to retrieve and share information superseding what currently exist in most Electronic Health Records (EHRs).
“It is exciting to see the level of innovation that is taking place in health IT today,” said Dr. Vindell Washington, principal deputy national coordinator, announcing the Phase 1 winners. “The apps that these challenges will produce have the potential to spur real-world improvements for individuals and clinicians throughout the health system.”
The Green Circle platform provides a comprehensive family health dashboard that covers the full Common Clinical Data Set and uses the FHIR to transfer patient information. It also incorporates patient-generated health data from wearables, sensors and other connected devices.
“ONC’s challenge will accelerate the adoption of FHIR-based data interchange, enabling patients get their data from the various EHR platforms that are used by their healthcare providers” said Dinesh Sheth, CEO and founder of GCH. “Patients and families have waited too long to get useful data to generate actionable intelligence. We appreciate ONC pushing to bring down the barriers for innovations to take place and families to get healthy.”
